Small Business COVID Compliant Grant
Small businesses and organizations are vital to our community because of the jobs they provide to our residents, the sales tax they generate, and the services that they provide which are critical to the public. The City of Whittier and Whittier Chamber of Commerce have partnered to create the Whittier Small Business COVID Compliant Grant to assist local small businesses that have been financially impacted by COVID-19. This grant was created specifically to help small businesses more safely resume customer interactions and operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the program is to offer immediate financial assistance to ensure ongoing compliance with state and county health orders and protocols.

Any business or nonprofit with 25 or fewer employees OR has annualized revenue of $1 million or less, has a current City of Whittier business license, and operates out of a physical location in the City of Whittier may apply

This grant is intended to ensure the safety of employees and customers and may be used for COVID-related safety and health expenses such as PPE (masks, face shields, gloves, hand sanitizer), hands-free payment devices, sanitation supplies, plexiglass partitions, health and safety improvements aimed at reducing the spread of infection and COVID-19 safety signage.

No. We are trying to assist as many businesses and nonprofits as possible with the funds available. If you have already received City funding through the Uptown grant, you will not be eligible to apply for this one.
Applications will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis based on applicant eligibility. Applications will be accepted beginning September 1, 2020 and grant funds will be awarded until funds are depleted.
The Grant Review Committee will review submitted applications for eligibility in the grant program every 2 weeks.
The Grant Review Committee will send you a letter notifying you of your status and grant amount. All decisions of the Grant Review Committee will be final.
The Grant Review Committee will be working quickly to provide assistance to eligible businesses and nonprofits. Checks will be sent out within 1 week of approval.
The application period will open on September 1, 2020 and close on October 31, 2020. If you believe your business or nonprofit may be eligible, complete the application located at whittierchamber.com.
The application consists of several questions and is fairly simple. You will be required to either provide a list of what you intend to spend the money on with estimated costs, or, provide documentation if you have already spent money on eligible items. Grant recipients will be required to provide documentation of purchases after funds are received
